“ I love me some cheap greasy Mexican food!! Good chips and salsa to start and I always get a bean or chicken burrito. The green chili is good. Drinks are good. I would recommend the frozen margaritas here. The prickly pear is my absolute favorite. I usually don't like sweet drinks so I was skeptical about trying it but it's not too sweet at all. The staff is very friendly. Atmosphere is comfortable. Sometimes they have a wait like on a Friday night but usually not. There's so much seating so it takes care of that. I love the patio. It's pretty big and looks out to the street. People watching is always fun! ”

“ The Mexican food here is classic style..It reminds me of "Spanish" food served in Los Angeles in the 70s, before it was called Mexican food. Think chili verde smothering in everything good. Remember what Mexican rice was referred to..."Spanish" rice. Mexican food served in Santa Fe, NM also resembles the cuisine served at Benny's. Well, I really like the style of Mexican food served at this place. It is nothing fancy, fluff, or trendy..... just good. I have eaten here twice, and departed totally full and satisfied. This last visit, I ordered the shredded chicken and cheese enchilada. The dish is hearty, rich, and oh so totally filling. "Spanish" arroz, beans, and a side of shredded lettuce with slice of tomato comes with the main dish. To complete my delicious lunch, I washed it all down with their classic margarita on ice, with rim glass liberally salted. The main dining area is festive and fun. The next time I am in Denver, I will stop here again for a delicious Mexican meal. Yay, I am a fan. ”

If you're a Denver/Wash Park/Cap Hill person and don't enjoy this place: the suburbs are always available to move to. And fast and friendly servers. What's not to love about Benny's? ”

“ One of our go to places for lunch during work. Had my usual Chile rellenos crispy smothered. Ala Carte as I didn't want the rice and beans with it. He decided to have them too. So we split and each had one and a half Chile rellenos. Just nice. I wasn't too full and I had enough to eat without a lot of carbs. The rellenos were cooked just nice. Not too crispy and they didn't get soggy under the green Chile sauce before I could enjoy them. Reinforced our lunchtime location choice. We sat outside on the patio as the weather was nice. There's construction going on across the street but it didn't interfere with our conversation. Parking is the challenge here as the street lots fill up quickly but supposedly there's a parking garage nearby. We haven't tried it as we've usually found parking. ”

“ The food at Benny's is very inexpensive and tasty. The location is close to my neighborhood as well which is convenient. The restaurant is located in Governors Park. I am a little worried that all the development happening around this location will attract a lot of new business for Benny's which is great but it will inevitably make it difficult to be seated quickly with not wait time and enjoy the food. This is a classic delicious and simple Mexican restaurant. My favorite dish is the Carnitas Plate. It comes with rice, beans, guacamole, jalapeños, tortillas and of course the carnitas! I like the majority of my food spicy so I usually have to ask at many restaurants but at Benny's I don't. It comes with the right amount of spice. Sometimes I accompany my meal with a classic Benny's margarita and if I remember they are only $6.50, great spot to get lit for cheap. No matter how full I am I order a sopapilla and it is one of the biggest and tastiest ones that I have ever eaten in any Mexican restaurant in town. All in all check out Benny's before the surrounding luxury condo tenants take over the restaurant and the area. *Check out my pics ”

“ I live in an area (Oakland) that should have great some Mexican restaurants. Here's the thing - I haven't found one yet that comes close to Benny's. Every time I'm in Denver, I have a list of must go-to restaurants. Benny's is always on it. It was a sistagirl weekend (two were from other states) and of course I raved about how good the food (and margaritas) are at this place, and I - of course - made it a point to take them there. Normally I get a hard taco, but I was trying not to be greedy, so I only ordered the sloppy ground beef burrito (comes with green chili, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomato on top, but I get everything but the green chili on the side). The burrito is always too big for me to eat in one sitting, so I ate about 1/4 and had the rest for breakfast in the a.m. The green chili contains chunks of pork, but I had none on my burrito. I kid you not, I asked the server for some pork and he brought enough for me to share. But let's talk about those margaritas!!! Depending on our party's size, We either get 1/2 liter or liter pitcher - but get it with no ice. Yes, there is an minimal additional charge, but you get more drink and everyone (there were 5 of us) was able to have two drinks each. Depending on your tolerance, one might be enough (I'm a two drink chick though). Looking forward to returning again and again! ”

“ A 3 That Deserves to Be a 4 Hey, that describes me perfectly. =] Anywho, this is one of those restaurants that seems to hover around a 3-star rating when it really deserves 4 stars. The ambiance is soft and very inviting. And the food is topnotch. I never walk away hungry or unsatisfied in any way. Just thinking about all of that cheesy Mexican food goodness is making me hungry. I'll see you there!! ”
